"I gave inside info to an interview candidate."

I interviewed for a job. I did not get selected for the next round. I was a bit bitter about it. The feedback was that they wanted someone with more experience in x. I didn't have that much experience in x, so that seemed fair. I found out today that of the 2 people in the final round of interviews, only Lisa has more experience in x than I do. The other candidate, Bart, has 0 experience in x, but is a preferred candidate because of they have a VP sponsoring them. . That. Noise.

I reached out to Lisa and asked her for coffee. During coffee, I told her the format of the second round interview, what the questions will be, who will be on the panel, and what they're looking for from the responses. Lisa probably didn't need my help, and could have gotten it on her own merit. But favoritism and work politics.

Lizzy_Of_Galtar Proud of you. favoritism :) 1.6k Reply Share ●●● Grouchy-Ad4338 This is the worst than favoritism actually - you lecture everyone on meritocracy and fairness of the process and then want to give it to someone you like. Hope that Lisa did land the job in the end.... 4443 Reply Share

latents I am torn. Lisa had the appropriate qualifications and skill set so she earned the job and should have been the favored candidate. However, a place that knowingly hires unqualified people kind of deserves to wallow in poor results and incompetence. I see it as earned suffering. I suppose this way they don't hire both of them and promote Bart to manage Lisa while expecting Lisa to do all the work. 494 Reply Share

10000schmeckles The owner of my job just hired his nephew a month ago. This nephew has some fancy new title, works remotely, has no idea how anything works or runs, but is now in charge of writing all the training materials. And also tracks what we do... It makes no sense, I can't wait to see the useless training materials coming from the guy with the least knowledge but highest paycheck. This guy has already had to put his foot in his mouth trying to point out mistakes which turned out to be hi

IgglesJawn How do you have the level of details on the job that you know it's down to two candidates, who they are, and how to contact them? You've either got someone on the inside, in which case you're closer to Bart than Lisa (not that I care) or this is made up. Candidates don't get other candidates contact information. 109 Reply Share

pahblahpahhumbug OP It's for a job in my department. I know everyone on the interview panel. From various hints, I figured out everyone who applied and who got interviews. Since I didn't make it into the second round, they offered to let me have input for the second round. That's how I know who got into the second round and also the questions/format. I didn't have the contact info and details for everyone who applied, but I happened to have more info on a few candidates, Bart and Lisa being two
